Description:

ATK Aerospace Systems leads the industry in solid rocket propulsion systems, satellite components and subsystems, lightweight space deployables and solar arrays. We are constantly pushing the boundaries of our nation's capabilities in space.

ATK, located in Beltsville, MD is currently recruiting for a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) engineer to provide spacecraft GN&C subsystem design, analyses, simulation, and testing support.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Modeling and simulation of GN&C performance to support subsystem trade studies;
  • Running unit tests and time-domain scenarios to support verification and validation of GN&C 6DOF performance simulations;
  • Design, analysis and simulation of algorithms for attitude control, attitude determination and orbital navigation;
  • Run frequency-domain analysis to verify GN&C control-loop stability;
  • Support testbed development and operation;
  • Work with a task lead to coordinate schedule and deliverables.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree (MS is preferred) in the applicable engineering discipline, with a graduate degree desirable.
  • 2 years of GN&C experience in the aerospace industry performing the responsibilities described in the job description.
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB, STK, and C/C++ as well as strong written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Must be comfortable interacting with a wide variety of people at various levels.
  • Specific experience in the design and analysis of spacecraft attitude and orbit control systems.
  • Expertise in performing attitude control analyses and simulations.
  • Good communication skills; some experience leading a small group of engineers working on analysis project is preferred.
  • Ability to acquire a DoD Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance is required, which usually requires US Citizenship as a pre-requisite.
